Hawk Residential Care & Treatment Homes

About Us

Hawk Residential Care and Treatment Homes Inc. operates 3 Children's Residences licensed by the Ministry of Community and Social Services and Children and Youth Services. In June of 2007 all three residences were awarded a three year CARF accreditation award as Residential Treatment residences.

General Program Description

Our three programs provide services to children and youth with a variety of Axis I diagnoses, often combined with personality issues, complex learning problems and constitutional issues such as FASD and/or pre-natal exposure to drugs, or are dually diagnosed with a developmental delay

Our consulting psychologist provides clinical consultation on a biweekly basis with staff for the purposes of clinical formulation, case consultation and treatment planning along with direct clinical training and support to staff. Treatment plans and Plans of Care are created by our Clinician, in consultation with our consulting psychologist, the residence Program Manager and the child's CYW caseworker. All residents participate in individual counselling sessions with the Clinician.

Utilizing an “Outcomes” based Treatment Model including Risk Screening Tools and Standardized Vision / Outcome statements, our Child and Youth Workers provide highly individualized, structured programs for all children that include in-house groups, a Section 23 school program, equine therapy and a number of community based programs such as the Boys and Girls Club.

The Lindsay Learning Centre, our Section 23 School Program, is available to residents of our three residences. Day Treatment Section 23 placements are also available to placing Agencies as space permits.

While most programming is community-based using resources such as the Boys and Girls Club, Lindsay Recreation Complex, GAMIING (Centre for Sustainable Lakeshore Living) and other resources, our Child and Youth Workers also facilitate weekly groups focusing on emotion management, life skills and social skills.

Residents participate in a summer day program providing numerous recreational activities and educational experiences. The summer program also provides the residents with a family style camping trip that matches the abilities and needs of the participating residents. In addition to other traditional-type counselling programs, residents participate in the Animal Science / Equine Therapy Program and training learning English and Western horseback riding.
